Abstract: The Embedded Through-Section (ETS) which is a new reinforced method of concrete beam to improve the shear capacity is introduced. 16 RC short beams are tested to certify the feasibility of the reinforced method. The shearing capacity between the reinforced specimens strengthened with assembling BFRP bars, epoxy wrapping BFRP bars (ETS) and assembling rebars and the unreinforced ones were compared in the test. Utilization of reinforcing bars are showed by the strain data. The results indicate that the reinforced bars can delay the development of cracking, improve the cracking load and the shear capacity of the beam. At the same time the mid-span deflection of short beam is reduced. The RC short beams strengthened by ETS method show good mechanical and deformation properties.
